Installation of solid wood

Some thoughts on 3/4 inch solid nail down ( Prefinished & Unfinished )
When it comes to installing 3/4 inch nail down installation the width of the boards has a direct effect on how long the job will take. If you haver ever installed 1 1/2" maple boards and compared the installation of 5 inch hickory, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Almost Half the the work for the larger boards, now the floor prep is the same the weight and delivery is all the same, but the installation is cut in half. Now 3 1/4 inch boards seem to have become the industry standard so I like to start with a price around $3.25 per square foot. now if the boards have a 5 inch width These can be installed for about 2.75 with about the same amount of effort per hour. now if your boards are 1 1/2 inch I would charges about $4.50 or more per square foot. of coarse these prices do not include any additional work and or floor preparation. After all hand nailing these boards in, even with pneumatic assistance, is ball busting work. We should be equally compensated for it.
